Darrelle Revis trade rumors: Buccaneers losing patience with Jets, according to report

The Jets and the Buccaneers may be reaching a tipping point that could end up keeping Darrelle Revis with the Jets for another season.

The likelihood that All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis is traded by the New York Jets could be slimming as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are losing patience with the Jets and could look to other options at cornerback, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post.

It was previously reported that the Buccaneers were being patient with the Jets regarding a deal for Revis, but a league source told Costello, “The Jets are going to screw this up.“ Initially, it was believed that the hang-up for the trade was the Buccaneers’ unwillingness to involve their first round selection, the 13th overall selection, but there have been contradictory reports and Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik didn’t sound too opposed to the idea in a talk with Costello on Tuesday:

“The thing I’d say is I feel really good about the success we’ve had drafting players,” Dominick said. “At the same point, I’m not going to sit there and be bull-headed and not think, ‘what’s the best thing for the team going forward?‘ That’s the only way you can build it right.”

Complicating the issue for the Jets is the fact that the Buccaneers may not only be the most likely suitor for Revis, but the only ones willing to pay a top price to acquire the cornerback.

After already paying out a $1 million bonus to Revis during the 2013 offseason, the latest snafu with the Buccaneers may be a further indication of push from the Jets toward the possibility of another season with Revis in a New York uniform.
