Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is reportedly set to become the highest paid player in the NFL when he signs a six-year, $120.6 million deal. Flacco's agent Joe Linta had said in the past that his client was deserving of top money and on Saturday he was pretty proud of the deal in a conversation with Jarrett Bell of USA Today:

“It’s nice to be right,” Linta said. “Everybody laughed about it when I said he’s a top-five guy. When I said he should be the highest paid player in the NFL, they thought I was a jackass. Hey, I do my job.”
Flacco was selected with the 18th pick in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft and was still playing under his rookie contract set to expire when the new league year starts on March 12. In 2012, he finished with an underwhelming 22 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, but had a tremendous postseason with 11 touchdowns and no interceptions.
In Super Bowl XLVII, Flacco threw three first-half touchdowns and led the Ravens to a 34-31 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, earning the Super Bowl MVP award after the game.
Prior to the contract, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was the highest paid player in the NFL after signing a five-year, $100 million deal in the 2012 offseason. As well as having one year more on the contract than Brees, Flacco's deal also averages to $20.1 million per season, just edging the $20 million per season of Brees's deal.
