NFL Draft 2013: Eagles will work out Sharrif Floyd, Eric Fisher

The Eagles are currently set to pick fourth overall in April's NFL draft, and you can trust that new head coach Chip Kelly does not want to get his first selection wrong. Philly has a number of significant holes that they will be looking to fill through the draft, and there are more than a few viable candidates at the top of the draft to fill them. For that reason, it makes perfect sense that the Eagles have set up visits with Eric Fisher and Sharrif Floyd, two of the top prospects in the draft, so that they can get a closer look at a couple of prospective members of their football team.

Fisher is a left tackle out of Central Michigan that some are projecting as the best tackle, if not the best overall player, available. In order for the Eagles to draft Fisher, the Chiefs will have to pass on him first. There's some debate as to whether or not Fisher or Luke Joeckel of Texas A&M is the best tackle prospect for 2013. Coach Kelly seems poised to fill needs on the offensive line through the draft, as they have not done much on that front in free agency, and with Fisher and Joeckel both available, they could wind up with whichever one the Chiefs do not pick.

The other player announced with a scheduled visit for Philadelphia was Floyd, a defensive tackle from the University of Florida. There are quite a few interesting defensive tackle prospects in this years draft, but many have rated Floyd as the very best one available. Again, he will not only have to get by the Chiefs first, but he'll have to slide past the Jaguars and Raiders too, unless the Eagles decide to trade up -- something that does not seem very likely in a draft like this, and with at least a few highly-rated prospects that could help Philly.
