Few question that Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL today. After watching Joe Flacco of the Baltimore Ravens become to highest-paid player in league history, the Green Bay Packers appear ready to show Rodgers how much they think of him, according to Pro Football Talk.

Rodgers is on a deal that extends through 2014 and pays him $9.75 million this season. While that salary is something you can probably live off of provided you cut back on some things like running water and electricity, Green Bay is looking to give Rodgers a contract that is more in line with his production and the comfortable lifestyle to which he is accustomed.
Translation? He’ll become the highest-paid player in NFL history. As JP Starkley pointed out a month ago, Rodgers was definitely keeping tabs on the Flacco situation and counting his millions as the Ravens signed a monster contract with their quarterback.
It’s impossible to estimate what Rodgers will command, but it’s entirely possible he’s the first player to receive $60 million in guarantees. If he does, it’s very hard to imagine anybody else breaking that record in the near future.
In the last few years alone, nobody matches the kind of numbers that Rodgers has been putting up. After winning the Super Bowl in 2010, Rodgers led the Packers to a 15-1 record and won the MVP in 2011, throwing for 45 touchdowns and only being picked off six times.
Last year, Rodgers amassed over 4,200 yards while throwing 39 touchdowns and eight interceptions for the NFC North champs. Over the last three seasons, his lowest completion rate was 65.7 percent. Not too shabby.
