Jason Kelce injury update: Eagles center expects full recovery by training camp

Philadelphia had its struggles with protection last year, but getting Jason Kelce back should help the front line.

The Philadelphia Eagles are getting a complete makeover, bringing in Chip Kelly to replace Andy Reid in the offseason while likely parting ways with some big-name faces like Cullen Jenkins and Nnamdi Asomugha.

However, they will be thrilled to see a face from the past in Jason Kelce, who missed almost all of last season with a torn MCL that he suffered in Week Two against the Baltimore Ravens. According to Philly.com, Kelce expects to be back in action at the start of training camp, showing no problems with his knee.

“It’s coming along real well,” Kelce said. “Right now, the target date with how I’ve been rehabbing is somewhere in the minicamps. The first one I might be a little bit limited. But the second one, we’ll go for it.”

Kelce was a terrific rookie in 2010, anchoring a veteran line and playing with strength and poise. With him back in the fold, Kelce should go a long way toward solidifying the interior of Philadelphia’s line.

The center position will be even more important in Kelly’s offense, which relies a ton on the quickness of its offensive lineman to pull and trap effectively.
