The Arizona Cardinals will release veteran safety Adrian Wilson, according to a report from Phoenix radio host Mike Jurecki. Wilson has played 12 seasons in the NFL, all with Arizona, and he'll try to continue his career elsewhere.

The Cardinals are moving on without a long-time member of the franchise.


Wilson was due to earn a $1 million roster bonus on March 12, and the decision to release him saves the Cardinals $3 million in cap room and $3.75 million in cash, according to Brian McIntyre of Yahoo! Sports.
The 33-year-old made five Pro Bowls during his time with the Cardinals; his most recent appearance came in 2011. He also earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2009. Wilson had been a mainstay in the team’s starting lineup since 2002, making 162 starts. For his career, he has 27 interceptions and nearly 900 tackles.
