NFL free agency 2013: Jared Cook reportedly seeking $6 million per year

The Titans tight end wants to see some cash after being productive the past few years in the Music City.

Tennessee Titans tight end Jared Cook isn't providing a hometown discount by any stretch. The 25-year-old wants to be paid upwards of six million dollars per year, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Cook has been a good player but certainly not one of the best at his position. After putting together his best season in 2011 with 49 catches for 759 yards and three touchdowns, Cook’s numbers fell off to 44 receptions for 523 yards in 2012, although he did score four times.

However, the money Cook reportedly is seeking might be a little bit of wishful thinking. Only two tight ends are scheduled to make $6 million or more in base salary next year: Zach Miller of the Seattle Seahawks and Vernon Davis of the San Francisco 49ers.

Cook is more likely to find a deal ranging somewhere between $3 and $4 million, still putting him in a higher tax bracket.

If Tennessee doesn't pay to keep Cook around, some teams that could sign him are the St. Louis Rams, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals.
