With the signing of offensive tackle Jake Long, the St. Louis Rams are by default moving Rodger Saffold from the left tackle spot over to the right side, making room for the former No. 1 overall pick.
Rams rumors: Rodger Saffold will not hold out
With the signing of Jake Long, Rodger Saffold isn’t jumping for joy, but reportedly won’t hold out.

While Saffold isn’t happy about the situation, he has no plans to hold out, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Saffold has been a solid player since being drafted in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft, but certainly not at the level Long is on when he’s healthy.
Saffold is a free agent after this season and will likely move on to find somewhere that will allow him to be a starting left tackle, according to Turf Show Times.
In the immediate future, the bookends of Long and Saffold give quarterback Sam Bradford the best protection he's ever had at the pro level. Long, in essence, replaces Barry Richardson, who has been nothing more than mediocre since entering the NFL as a sixth-round selection by the Kansas City Chiefs.
