New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes won't participate in the team's voluntary workouts as he continues to rehab a Lisfranc injury and takes classes at Ohio State, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post. Holmes made just four starts last year before heading to injured reserve, and head coach Rex Ryan has said the goal for his return is Week 1.
Santonio Holmes injury: Jets WR to miss voluntary workouts

A struggling Jets passing game had even more troubles without one of its top playmakers. New York finished 30th in Football Outsiders’ DVOA passing efficiency metric, nearly 26 percent worse than average. Holmes was on pace to post the second 1,000-yard season of his career when he went down. The wideout caught 20 passes for 272 yards and a touchdown in four games.
The Jets offense was the primary reason the team stumbled to a 6-10 record. A return from Holmes will certainly give New York a boost.
