Jaguars have no plans to trade Maurice Jones-Drew, GM says

The Jaguars will not trade Maurice Jones-Drew, who is still recovering from foot surgery.

Sam Greenwood

Maurice Jones-Drew will not be traded, Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell said on Friday's Pro Football Talk Live. The running back held out of training camp a year ago hoping for a new contract that he did not get, and while he has not said whether or not he will hold out this season, it does not appear as if he will be traded or get that new contract.

Jones-Drew is entering the final year of his five-year, $31 million contract, making him a free agent next offseason.

Right now, Jones-Drew’s biggest concern is getting healthy again. The running back played in just six games last season before injuring his left foot and undergoing surgery on it. He is still rehabbing that injury, but he and the team expect him to be back at 100 percent by the start of training camp.

Jones-Drew ran for 414 yards on 86 carries for an awful Jaguars team that went 2-14 last season, ending a streak of three straight seasons with at least 1,300 yards rushing.
