Jets ‘disappointed’ Darrelle Revis used Giants orthopedist for surgery

Darrelle Revis and the Jets have a healthy relationship full of love and harmony, or maybe something else.

Nits continue to be picked in the saga, nearly a soap opera, between the New York Jets and cornerback Darrelle Revis. The team has held on to resentment stemming from Revis's decision to use a New York Giants orthopedist for knee surgery in October, ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini reported.

Revis chose to have Dr. Russell Warren, the Giants’ orthopedist, to perform the surgery instead of the Jets’ doctors of Atlantic Health, the team doctors whose name is on the Jets’ training facility.

The Jets downplayed the story when it happened in October, according to Cimini:

“I have a great deal of confidence in our doctors and training staff. However, ultimately, these decisions are up to the preference of the player, and we respect Darrelle’s decision. We are all just focused on making sure he has the resources and support he needs for a successful recovery.”

The rift over Revis’s knee surgery is one of many petty grievances that have added up to break down the relationship between a star player and his team, but he’ll still report to the Jets’ off-season program Monday. On his way in, he’ll have a check-up with Warren, Cimini said.
