Hill sang the opener for NBC’s prime time football broadcast for six seasons, a repackaged version of “I Hate Myself For Loving You.” We preserved some of the magic in GIF form.
From the 2012 version:
And from 2011:
Intros for prime time games aren’t easy. ESPN dumped Hank Williams, Jr., in 2011 after some choice comments on Fox News. Cee Lo Green’s intro for Thursday Night Football on the NFL Network is the only thing worse than the Thursday night games themselves.
A pop/country icon who offended nobody and is well-known throughout middle America, Hill was a natural fit. Her intros had just enough sex appeal to skirt controversy.
NBC will have to find a suitable replacement. In the meantime, we’re taking your suggestions.
