Giants RB Andre Brown sets goal for 22 touchdowns

Brown is ready to go, hoping that the 2013 season can be his breakout campaign.

New York Giants running back Andre Brown has lofty expectations heading into the 2013 season, and why not?

Brown rushed for a team-high eight touchdowns last season before breaking his leg against the Green Bay Packers in late November, ending his season prematurely.

Now, Brown is looking to put up some eye-opening numbers, according to the Giants official website.

“I have to outdo last year’s stats. Eight touchdowns – I want 22. I want 1,300 (yards) this year. That’s the steppingstone. I have to erase last year’s stats and show I can do better.”

Brown also believes he can showcase his other skills, not just when he has the ball in his hands.

“Totally. Third down back, pass protection, goal line, short yardage – all that,” he said. “I can’t wait to do it. Because I want to show, other than (scoring) the one-yard touchdown, I want to show more than what I have. I feel like I’m a home run hitter, too. As long as I go out there and produce and show the world my versatility, the sky’s the limit”

Last season, Brown got some real playing time for the first time since he entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick in 2009 by the Giants out of North Carolina State. In 10 games, Brown amassed 385 rushing yards at 5.3 yards per carry, and caught 12 passes as well, giving a glimpse of what he can do.

This year, Brown won't have Ahmad Bradshaw to compete with after he left to find a new home on the free agent market, but will have to deal with 2012 first-round pick David Wilson.
