Back in 2009, Green Bay Packers defensive end Johnny Jolly looked like a promising young piece on a promising young team. Then it all fell apart for the hulking youngster.

Jolly was arrested for a third time on drug charges, earning himself six years in a Houston jail and an indefinite suspension from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Jolly has had many drug issues in the past, as written about by SB Nation’s Packers blog, ACME Packing Company, in 2011.

After serving six months, Jolly was released on the condition he enroll in a drug rehabilitation program. Had he unsuccessfully gone through the program, Jolly would have been banned from the NFL for life.

However, Jolly passed with flying colors and now is being given a shot to make the Packers roster, according to the Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal-Sentinel.

Now reinstated to the league, Jolly will have to prove himself all over again. But, there is a legitimate chance to make the team with the position being a weakness on Green Bay. Currently, the starters are the aging Ryan Pickett and the injured Jerel Worthy.

At 30 years old, Jolly hasn’t yet shown up for minicamp, but he is expected to arrive soon for football activities.
