The Kansas City Chiefs' new coaching staff prefers Eric Fisher over Luke Joeckel, according to a report from Tony Pauline of Draft Insider. There had been whispers of the staff preferring Fisher over Joeckel, although nothing substantial had really come from it.
Chiefs draft rumors: Eric Fisher preferred by coaching staff over Luke Joeckel, per report
With the 2013 NFL Draft just a few days away, there is still some question to who will be this year’s top pick.

Fisher and Joeckel are very similar in terms of skill set. Both have great footwork and high football IQs. They both projected to be stalwarts at left tackle that can be built around for the next decade. They are regarded as great teammates, both on and off the field. At the NFL Combine, Fisher checked in at 6’7 and 306 pounds. Joeckel is 6’6 and 306 pounds.
The only real difference from their college days was the level of competition they faced every Saturday afternoon. Joeckel went up against the best talent in the country in the Big 12 and SEC, while Fisher played against the MAC.
What the Chiefs staff may believe is that Fisher has the higher upside of the two. Some scouts believe he is the best pass blocker in the class, and Andy Reid has made it known protecting his new quarterback will be a top priority in Kansas City.
The first round of the 2013 NFL Draft is Thursday.
