2013 NFL Draft: Tank Carradine targeted by Dolphins, Giants, Vikings

Tank Carradine performed very well at a personal workout last week, and is drumming up a lot of interest from teams as a potential first round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Florida State defensive end Cornellius "Tank" Carradine has received plenty of interest as a mid-first round prospect in the 2013 NFL Draft. According to DraftInsider.net, he could go as high as No. 12 to the Miami Dolphins, with the New York Giants also potentially interested at No. 19, along with the Minnesota Vikings at No. 23 or No. 25.

The Dolphins could become a player for Carradine if they take care of their glaring need at left tackle. That depends on whether they can consummate a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs to acquire Branden Albert. With Albert in fold, the Dolphins wouldn't have to worry about trading up to acquire one of Luke Joeckel, Eric Fisher or Lane Johnson, and could focus on taking the best player on their draft board at No. 12.

New York is the projected landing spot for Carradine in SB Nation’s latest mock draft. The Giants have needs along the offensive line and at defensive end, according to Big Blue View. This year’s class of defensive linemen is very deep, making Carradine a potential steal late in the second half of the first round. The Giants reportedly rated Carradine as one of the best defensive ends in his class before he suffered a torn ACL late in the 2012 season.

If the Dolphins and Giants take a pass on Carradine, the Vikings will be in good position to snatch him up. Minnesota has several defensive ends entering the final year of their contracts in 2013, and may look to solidify their future at the position.

Carradine might have been a top five pick if he hadn’t blown out his knee last November. He had 11 sacks and 13 tackles for loss among 80 total tackles starting in place of the injured Brandon Jenkins last season.

That said, his recovery is going very well. Carradine likely secured a first round selection when he ran a 4.75 in the 40-yard dash at a personal workout last week. The Atlanta Falcons are also reportedly interested, along with the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers.
