2013 NFL trade rumors: Nate Washington unavailable, says Titans GM

Tennessee general manager Ruston Webster is downplaying trade rumors.

Tennessee Titans general manager Ruston Webster downplayed trade rumors on Tuesday, maintaining that wide receiver Nate Washington is unavailable, according to Terry McCormick.

Washington is entering his age-30 season, and is coming off of a disappointing 2012 campaign. Last season, Washington caught just 46 passes for 746 yards and four touchdowns. In 2011, Washington caught 74 passes for 1,023 yards and seven touchdowns.

Owed a base salary of $4.2 million in 2013, Washington isn't a particularly attractive option for other teams in the league to consider trading for. The 6'1 receiver will likely enter the 2012 season behind both Kenny Britt and Kendall Wright on the Titans' depth chart.

Webster's statement regarding Washington's availability should be taken with a grain of salt. General managers often downplay and deny rumors for deals that end up coming to fruition -- such as Percy Harvin and Darrelle Revis.

Unlike Harvin and Revis, Washington isn’t a hot commodity and likely won’t fetch more than a late-round pick -- if anything.

Washington could benefit from a change of scenery, and reports surfaced earlier this offseason that Washington would rather be released than traded. It doesn’t appear that Washington is on his way out of Tennessee -- but with just over four months until Week 1, anything can happen.
