Detroit Lions linebacker Ronnell Lewis was arrested Saturday morning after he was involved in an altercation outside of a Norman, Okla., bar. Lewis was arrested on three misdemeanor complaints, according to Jake Trotter of ESPN.com.

Ronnell Lewis allegedly punched a person in front of a police officer. That was not a wise idea, as Lewis was arrested.


Lewis was arrested on complaints of disturbing the peace, public intoxication and interfering with official procedure. According to the police report, Lewis punched a guy who was on the ground outside of the bar in front of police. He was tased by police multiple times before eventually cooperating.
The incident occurred outside of Logan’s on the Corner, part of Norman’s Campus Corner entertainment district. Lewis played college football at the University of Oklahoma. He was selected in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL draft and appeared in eight games for the Lions last season.
According to a report from the Tulsa World, the altercation began inside the bar and continued outside after Lewis was kicked out of the bar by bouncers. Police noted that Lewis had slurred speech, red, bloodshot eyes and he smelled of alcohol.
The Lions released a statement following the arrest, saying the team is aware of the incident and is currently in the process of gathering more information. SB Nation’s Lions blog Pride of Detroit has more on the situation.
