Cedric Benson will fly to Green Bay to meet with the Packers on Wednesday, according to Adam Schefter. The meeting could pave the way for the running back to return to the Packers after his 2012 season with the team was cut short by a Lisfranc injury.
Packers rumors: Cedric Benson will meet with Green Bay, per report
Cedric Benson may make a return to Green Bay.

The Packers are desperate for a running back and while head coach Mike McCarthy says the team doesn't need an elite back to carry the load, they do need more depth with DuJuan Harris, James Starks and John Kuhn making up the entire running back corps. Benson was solid last season, carrying 71 times in the first five games for 248 yards before going down with his injury.
Whether the Packers might soon sign Benson or just want to get a look at his recovery is unclear, but there is obviously interest there and it would appear as if the running back’s health is the biggest barrier to a deal at the moment.
Benson is a free agent and while some teams have shown mild interest in the running back, his injury has made most of them weary. He has yet to completely recover from the injury, although he is close. If the Packers are convinced that he will get back to 100 percent, they would appear to be a good fit for the running back.
