2013 NFL draft team needs: New York Jets

The Jets certainly need help on offense.

The New York Jets have been strong on defense in recent years, but their offense, specifically at quarterback, has been an embarrassment. The Jets averaged just 299.2 yards per game in 2012, ranking 30th in the NFL, and their 17.6 points per contest ranked 28th. New York finished eighth in total defense, but the poor offensive display led to a 6-10 record.

The Jets have already made a big pre-draft move, trading cornerback Darrelle Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 13th pick in this year's draft and a conditional pick next year. Now that the team has two top-15 picks, will New York use both to upgrade the offense, or will one of the picks be used to address the new vacancy in the secondary.

Top three needs

Quarterback -- With Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow and Greg McElroy attempting to run the show in 2012, the Jets put up the third-fewest passing yards per game in 2012. New York added David Garrard in free agency, but he hasn't played since 2010.

Outside linebacker -- While the Jets’ defense has been good, it didn’t get to the quarterback enough last season. New York tied for 25th in the league with 30 sacks, and the team could use a pass rusher.

Wide receiver -- Yes, the quarterback play was awful last year, but the receiving corps didn't help much. Jeremy Kerley lead New York's wideouts with 56 catches and 827 yards, and he tied for third on the team with two touchdown grabs. No other receiver caught more than 29 passes or compiled more than 359 yards.

Ideal pick -- Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU
