Browns LB Quentin Groves arrested for solicitation in sting operation

Just over a month after signing with the Cleveland Browns, Quentin Groves finds himself in hot water.

USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Browns linebacker Quentin Groves was arrested last week on solicitation charges, Cleveland Scene Magazine reports. Groves was caught in a three-day sting operation in Ohio that also rounded up 14 other men.

According to the police report from Cuyahoga Sherrif’s Department, Groves was arrested on April 17 after negotiating the “full service” treatment from an officer posing as a prostitute. The parties had agreed on the price over the phone. Police seized $195.70 and a box of condoms as evidence.

Groves signed a two-year contract worth $2.8 million with the Browns in March. The former second round pick has played with three different teams in his five years in the league. Last year, he had 46 tackles, four sacks and a forced fumble during his only season with the Arizona Cardinals.

Groves’ court date is set for May 10. The Browns reportedly could not be reached for comment.
