There have been a lot of rumors about which direction the Jacksonville Jaguars could go with the second pick in the NFL draft on Thursday, and as of now nobody knows for sure what they will do. One of the most popular rumors has been their interest in West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith as their quarterback of future, since Blaine Gabbert has not yet been able to fill that role. Quarterback is certainly a strong possibility for the Jaguars.
2013 NFL Draft rumors: Jaguars ‘high’ on Matt Barkley
Jacksonville has been rumored to be interested in drafting a quarterback. But were they right about which quarterback they are interested in?

But is Smith the one that they are actually targeting?
While USC quarterback Matt Barkley has apparently been slipping down draft boards since college football season, maybe his NFL prospects aren’t as bad as many had been led to believe. Jason La Canfora reports that the Jaguars are high on Barkley, which suggests that he could be the first quarterback off of the board on Thursday.
Barkley is the 56th-ranked player by Mocking the Draft’s Dan Kadar, but the second-highest ranked quarterback. There are still a number of pundits and experts out there that defend Barkley as the top quarterback in this draft, while others are not placing him in the top five. If the Jaguars interest in Barkley is real however, Barkley could be one of the first five overall players selected in the 2013 draft. It likely depends on how much head coach Gus Bradley believes that Barkley is the quarterback he wants to tie his wagon to.
