NFL Draft 2013 results: Kyle Long selected by Bears with 20th pick

Kyle Long was selected by the Bears with the 20th pick of the 2013 NFL Draft. The guard is low on experience, but big on athleticism and family pedigree.

With the 20th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft the Chicago Bears selected guard Kyle Long from the University of Oregon. Long is SB Nation's No. 5 rated guard in the 2013 draft class and SB Nation's Dan Kadar rates him as the No. 67 overall player in this year's draft.

The son of Howie Long and brother of Rams defensive end Chris Long, Kyle Long has a tremendous football pedigree. Both Howie and Chris call Kyle the best athlete in the family, who began his college career as a pitcher at Florida State, but he is inexperienced with only four career starts.

Long has all the parts needed to make a great offensive lineman. He is long and strong with impressive athleticism. He came to Oregon as a tackle and has great mobility for a lineman with a good aggressive attitude. For all his upside, Long is still incredibly raw starting college as a pitcher, then playing defensive line in junior college before switching to the offensive line. Should he reach the potential he has given his athleticism and family success, he could be a steal.

Long, son of Howie, will join a Bears offensive line that needs to do a better job of keeping quarterback Jay Cutler upright in the future.
