2013 NFL Draft team needs: San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers came up just short in the Super Bowl and now have more picks than anyone in the NFL Draft. That probably isn’t a positive development for the rest of the NFL.

Coming off a Super Bowl run, the 49ers don't have a lot of holes to fill heading into the 2013 NFL Draft. What holes they do have, they should be able to fill easily, as San Francisco has an NFL-high 13 draft picks. San Francisco is unlikely to use all 13 picks, as many expect the 49ers to package picks to move up in the draft.
San Francisco has a deep and talented roster, but the 49ers do have holes to fill. All-Pro safety Dashon Goldson left via free agency, leaving the 49ers will a hole in the back of their defense. Goldson wasn't the only contributor to leave in free agency, and while the 49ers signed a few players to help fill the void, there is still work to be done.
Top three needs:
Safety - San Francisco didn't do much to replace Goldson in free agency and will instead head into the draft with a hole at free safety. Donte Whitner will return at strong safety next season, but he's entering the final year of his contract, meaning San Francisco may also consider adding a long-term replacement at strong safety.
Defensive end - Justin Smith and Aldon Smith combine to form one of the best defensive end duos in the NFL, but with Smith at age 33, and both players coming off injury, depth is needed. San Francisco lost backup defensive end Ricky Jean Francois in free agency, making defensive end an even bigger need.
Nose tackle - Isaac Sopoaga's free agent departure left the 49ers with a hole at nose tackle. San Francisco signed Glenn Dorsey in free agency, but could still use some depth.
Ideal pick: Kenny Vaccaro, safety, Texas
