The Miami Dolphins could trade up from the No. 12 spot in the 2013 NFL draft if Texas A&M left tackle Luke Joeckel falls past the Kansas City Chiefs' No. 1 overall pick, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. The Chiefs may already know their pick, and reports suggest that Central Michigan's Eric Fisher is the favorite to be the first player taken. If that's the case, the Dolphins may be poised to make a major deal.

Thirty years ago, the NFL Draft featured names like Marino and Elway. But the one history forgets is Reggie Collier, the original dual-threat QB. The Dolphins are in desperate need of a starting left tackle after letting Jake Long leave for the St. Louis Rams as an unrestricted free agent earlier this offseason. The organization has been negotiating with the Chiefs in hopes of trading for Branden Albert, but with the start of the draft approaching a deal does not appear to be in sight.
Meanwhile, this year's draft class is loaded at the top end with left tackle prospects. Along with Joeckel and Fisher, Oklahoma's Lane Johnson is also considered a potential top-five pick and could also be on the Dolphins' radar if they are able to some how move up from No. 12.
Salguero suggests that the Dolphins may look to swap spots with the Oakland Raiders at No. 3. The move would likely cost Miami a bounty, perhaps including their first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. The Philadelphia Eagles at No. 4 and the Cleveland Browns at No. 6 have also been suggested as potential trade partners over the past few weeks.
If Joeckel is taken before the Dolphins have a chance to trade up, they may target Oregon outside linebacker Dion Jordan instead. SB Nation's latest mock drafts from Matthew Fairburn and Dan Kadar have Jordan going No. 7 and No. 13 overall, respectively.
