Tyrann Mathieu has had a hard time generating anything resembling positive publicity in the weeks and days leading up to the 2013 NFL Draft. Even with the draft underway, he can't seem to stay out of headlines for dubious reasons. On Friday, reports surfaced that Mathieu was a no-show for scheduled meetings with the Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks last week.
NFL Draft 2013: Tyrann Mathieu no-showed with Texans, Seahawks per report
Tyrann Mathieu is having a hard time staying out of headlines at the 2013 NFL Draft, and for all the wrong reasons.

Few players had as much baggage as Mathieu entering the draft. He was kicked off the LSU football program heading into the 2012 season after failing multiple drug tests. Mathieu later admitted that he stopped counting how many drug tests he had failed after the 10th instance.
Mathieu also had a disappointing performance at the NFL Combine, during which he appeared out of shape, running a relatively disappointing 4.5 in the 40-yard dash and putting up just four reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Thankfully, he passed his drug test in Indianapolis.
Despite his history, Mathieu will potentially hear his name called in the second or third round on Friday. There is good reason why he was a Heisman Trophy candidate in 2011. Mathieu’s game tape is stellar. He may have taken himself off the Seahawks’ and Texans’ boards with his no-shows, however. Then again, both teams are relatively set in the secondary, so it’s possible Mathieu didn’t view their entreaties as serious.
Hopefully Mathieu will get to have his party sometime soon.
