The third round of the 2013 NFL Draft is rolling right along. At No. 70, the Tennessee Titans selected cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson out of the University of Connecticut. Immediately after, the St. Louis Rams used their pick acquired from the Buffalo Bills on safety T.J. McDonald out of USC.

The Tennessee Titans and the St. Louis Rams made third-round selections on Friday, with the former taking cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson and the latter taking safety T.J. McDonald.

Wreh-Wilson doesn’t possess outstanding measurables, as he was among the slower corners at the combine with a 4.53 40-yard dash, but he is considered a very solid zone cornerback. That’s a scheme that the Titans employ, so Wreh-Wilson should see plenty of playing time in his rookie season. At 6’1, he also has the height that will allow him to hang iwth the taller receivers in the AFC South.
St. Louis has had a struggling secondary for some time now, and the safety position in particular has been a huge need. Many felt that the Rams might try to target a guy like Kenny Vaccaro in round one, but the team filled two other huge needs on day one instead, drafting Tavon Austin and Alec Ogletree.
McDonald is a little raw, but is being drafted where many projected him. He’s an interesting safety in that he played nearer the line of scrimmage a lot more in his senior season, and actually seemed to underperform. He’s definitely more comfortable deep and that’s exactly what the Rams need.
