NFL Draft results 2013: Jets, Buccaneers and Cowboys make 3rd-round selections

The Jets, Buccaneers and Cowboys all selected offensive players in the third round, including the third quarterback to come off the board.

USA TODAY Sports

The Jets used the No. 72 overall pick to select Kent State guard Brian Winters, the Buccaneers selected N.C. State quarterback Mike Glennon at No. 73 and the Cowboys used the No. 74 pick on Baylor wide receiver Terrance Williams.

New Jets guard Winters is a versatile prospect who can play anywhere along the offensive line. He was an All-MAC left tackle in 2012, but is projected as a left guard in the NFL, as his physicality and toughness are his best attributes. He uses his hands well and gains leverage against defensive linemen.

Glennon, selected by the Bucs, impressed scouts during practices at the Senior Bowl in January. He has experience running a pro-style offense, and possesses an impressive combination of size and arm strength. That said, he isn’t a perfect prospect. Glennon doesn’t possess the level of mobility that NFL team are increasingly coveting, and he wasn’t as consistent a passer in college as many would have liked.

The Cowboys’ third-round pick, Williams, did nothing but improve in his four-year career with the Baylor Bears. He went from catching only three passes for 61 yards his freshman year to catching 97 passes for 1,832 yards and 12 touchdowns his senior season. Overall, he had over 3,300 yards and scored 27 touchdowns.
