The New York Jets have traded a fourth-round pick to the New Orleans Saints to acquire running back Chris Ivory, according to Jason La Canfora.

As Friday’s draft activity wound down, the Jets and the Saints reached a deal for the running back.

The Jets have been negotiating with the Saints for nearly a week over the 25-year-old back. It took until halfway through the third round of the NFL Draft for New York to close the deal.
Ivory signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He showed plenty of promise in his first year, rushing 137 times for 716 yards and five touchdowns. That was the highest workload he got, however, as injuries and a crowded backfield limited his playing time. He got a scant 40 carries in six games last season.
The Jets currently have Mike Goodson and Bilal Powell in the fold, but Ivory has far more upside than either of those backs. He shouldn't have much trouble winning the starting job in training camp.
