Day 2 of the 2013 NFL Draft is in the books, and, to this point, only a handful of running backs have been selected. The first round didn’t see a single running back drafted, but things picked up Friday with five coming off the board in the second round and one in the third.
NFL Draft best available: Marcus Lattimore headlines remaining running backs
Things picked up for the running back class on Day 2 of the 2013 NFL Draft, and Marcus Lattimore leads the list of remaining players heading into day three.

Giovani Bernard out of North Carolina was the first running back drafted, going to the Cincinnati Bengals with the No. 37 overall pick in the second round. Eddie Lacy, who was considered to be the top running back talent in the leadup to the draft, went at No. 61 overall to the Green Bay Packers.
Lacy was hampered by injury issues that hurt his stock. Day two also saw Montee Ball, Christine Michael, Le'Veon Bell and Knile Davis drafted.
While those are definitely big names, there's still some solid names available heading into Day 3. The best among them is South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore. He suffered a gruesome knee injury in college and his stock plummeted. Making it to the NFL at all is a true testament to how strong a player he is. But it's anybody's guess as to where he's drafted, if he's drafted.
The next two running backs on Dan Kadar's big board are Joseph Randle of Oklahoma State and Johnathan Franklin of UCLA. In a relatively weak draft class, Randle and Franklin may be the last hope for potential starters this year. Franklin had 1,734 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns in 2012, with a per carry average of 6.1 yards. Randle had 1,417 yards and 14 touchdowns to cap off his strong 2012 as well.
Below, we’ve got a list of some of the top remaining backs.
Marcus Lattimore, South Carolina
Joseph Randle, Oklahoma St.
Johnathan Franklin, UCLA
Stepfan Taylor, Stanford
Andre Ellington, Clemson
Jawan Jamison, Rutgers
Ray Graham, Pittsburgh
Dennis Johnson, Arkansas
