2013 NFL Draft results: Jordan Poyer falls to Eagles in 7th round

One of the higher-rated cornerbacks heading into the draft, Oregon State’s Jordan Poyer finally heard his name called by the Philadelphia Eagles.

In the seventh round, most teams are selecting players who will be fighting for roster spots — but the Philadelphia Eagles might have found a player who will actually see the field in cornerback Jordan Poyer. Later in the round, another quarterback was taken as the Chargers selected Brad Sorensen. Picks 218 through 222 are listed below:

No. 218, Philadelphia Eagles: Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon St.

The sixth-best cornerback on the SB Nation pre-draft big board, Poyer hurt his stock with a poor showing at the combine and on his pro day. He’s a great route-reader and a true student of the game with great hands. With the Eagles thin in the secondary, he could see playing time as a rookie.

No. 219, Arizona Cardinals: D.C. Jefferson, TE, Rutgers

Jefferson is a tall tight end at 6’6, has good speed and is a solid blocker. He needs to work on his hands, among other aspects of his game, if he hopes to make the regular-season roster.

No. 220, Seattle Seahawks: Ryan Seymour, G, Vanderbilt

Seymour will compete for a roster spot as a backup offensive lineman.

No. 221, San Diego Chargers: Brad Sorensen, QB, Southern Utah

The Chargers took Sorensen ahead of some of the big-name quarterbacks still on the board. He has a big arm and good mechanics, but isn’t a great athlete and is a bit too risky in his decision making.

No. 222, Buffalo Bills: Chris Gragg, TE, Arkansas

Gragg was limited to five games his senior season after suffering a knee injury, but he is a great athlete with good speed. Gragg isn’t much of a blocker at all, but could contribute as a pass-catching tight end.
