2013 NFL Draft results: 1st of the 7th-round compensatory picks

The 2013 NFL Draft is almost over as teams make their final selections.

The compensatory selections of the seventh round began with the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 239, and it started with a run of lineman on both sides of the ball. The Seahawks had back-to-back picks at No. 241 and 242 and took players from small schools with their two selections (New Hampshire and NE Oklahoma St.). The picks from No. 238 to No. 242 are listed below:

No. 238, Baltimore Ravens: Aaron Mellette, WR, Elon

A very productive receiver in the FCS, Mellette has the size and skillset to develop into a starter in the NFL. He’ll first have to overcome a significant jump from Elon to the pros.

No. 239, Philadelphia Eagles: David King, DT, Oklahoma

King is a versatile lineman who split time between the inside and the outside on the Oklahoma line. King can be moved playing against the run on the inside and struggles to gain the corner in pass rush on the outside. He is most effective as a pass rusher on the inside.

No. 240, Cincinnati Bengals: Reid Fragel, OT, Ohio State

A converted tight end, Fragel has NFL size at 6’8, 308 pounds. He only played one year at tackle, so has a lot of room to improve as he gains more experience. He has a ton of upside and could earn playing time after a year or two of development.

No. 241, Seattle Seahawks: Jared Smith, DT, New Hampshire

A high-motor player who best plays the five-technique, a position of need for the Seahawks. He has good awareness, but is not a standout athlete.

No. 242, Seattle Seahawks: Michael Bowie, OT, Northeastern State

Bowie puts Northeastern State on the draft board as the Seahawks add an offensive lineman.
