Former San Jose State tight end Ryan Otten has signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent, according to Tony Pauline of Draft Insider. In all, 16 tight ends were drafted over the course of the draft, with one of them, Tyler Eifert of Notre Dame, going in the first round.
Tight end Ryan Otten joins Jaguars as undrafted free agent
The Jacksonville Jaguars brought in some help at the tight end position with undrafted free agent Ryan Otten.

Otten missed out though, likely due in part to the fact that he played at San Jose State, a smaller program. But he was a big part of the San Jose State offense, with 47 receptions for 742 yards and four touchdowns with the Spartans last year. The year before, he had 739 yards and five touchdowns as a junior.
Fortunately for Otten, he landed with a team that doesn't have much at the tight end position. Marcedes Lewis led the Jaguars' tight end corps last year with 540 yards and four touchdowns off of 78 receptions. Otten is a receiving tight end and could definitely find his way onto the field in his rookie season behind Lewis.
Who will be throwing the ball to Otten has yet to be decided though, with Chad Henne and Blaine Gabbert being the competing veterans and another UDFA, Matt Scott, likely in the mix as well.
