It’s way too early to be grading the 2013 NFL Draft, but that doesn’t make it any less fun to do so. Before we go into the nuts and bolts of all seven rounds, however, let’s see what outside experts had to say about the Day 3 selections. In this post, we’ll look at the NFC North, with the help of Jason Chilton’s pick-by-pick grades on CBS Sports and the random observations of SB Nation’s Matthew Fairburn.
2013 NFL Draft grades: A look at the NFC North on Day 3
The NFL Draft has come and gone. Let’s see what experts think about how the NFC North teams did on the final day.

NFC North
Chicago Bears: The Bears got a minor steal in the 4th with OLB Khaseem Greene, which drew an A- grade from Chilton. They got another A- for grabbing OT Jordan Mills in the 5th, another piece to help rebuild the offensive line. DE Cornelius Washington in the 6th got a B. The Bears took a flier on WR Marquess Wilson in the 7th after a messy divorce from Washington State. It got a B+ grade. Chicago got a lot of quality value picks in the late rounds.
Detroit Lions: DE Devin Taylor in the 4th gets a C+ from Chilton. He can help on the defensive line with Cliff Avril gone. Punter Sam Martin in the 5th got a D grade and snarky comment from Chilton: "Any time you have the chance to grab the draft's 6th-rated punter in the 5th round, you'd be a fool not to pounce on it." He was more charitable with WR Corey Fuller in the 6th round with a B grade.
Green Bay Packers: The Packers were one of the biggest winners on Day 3, grabbing a sliding Johnathan Franklin in the 4th round to pair with Eddie Lacy. Chilton gives it an A- and Fairburn puts it in his "good" category. CB Micah Hyde and DT Josh Boyd in the 5th got C+ and C grades, respectively.
Minnesota Vikings: Chilton gives 4th round OLB Gerald Hodges an A grade and believes he "could step in immediately if Erin Henderson kicks inside to MLB". They took the first punter off the board, UCLA's Jeff Locke, and it got a C. The Vikings scored a big steal in the 7th, grabbing OLB Michael Mauti and earning a B+ grade from Chilton.
