Undrafted free agents 2013: 49ers add Lawrence Okoye, others

The San Francisco 49ers entered the 2013 NFL Draft with more picks than any team and came away an impressive haul of 11 players, but they haven’t stopped there, adding several undrafted free agents -- including the British Olympian who has never played American football.

The San Francisco 49ers had a productive draft in 2013, adding 11 players, but they will bring just as many undrafted free agents to training camp in hope of finding a diamond in the rough.

In the draft, the 49ers added players at positions of need and found good values. Top pick Eric Reid should help fill the hole left by Dashon Goldson at safety, while Tank Carradine should add immediate value rotating in as a pass rusher on the defensive line. San Francisco also selected one of the best stories in the draft in South Carolina running back and fan-favorite Marcus Lattimore, who should have plenty of time to rehab his knee while learning from Frank Gore.

San Francisco added an undrafted free agent with another great story in Lawrence Okoye, the British Olympian in the discus who has never played American football. Okoye will certainly be a project and may never make it into the NFL, but has incredible athleticism that could translate on the field.

The 49ers have signed plenty of other undrafted free agents, with the offensive line being the primary focus. San Francisco has also added former Minnesota quarterback MarQueis Gray, who projects as a tight end or wide receiver in the NFL. The full list of undrafted free agents signed by San Francisco is listed below:
