NFL news roundup: Kluwe’s uncertain future in Minnesota and Miami may sign Winston

Rounding up the day in NFL news.

Brace Hemmelgarn-US PRESSWIRE

The NFL Draft is in the books, which means it is time to sign undrafted free agents and try to sort through what teams are going to do now that they have a new crop of rookies on their rosters. That could mean cuts, trades or signings, as general managers get to make final adjustments to teams that have finally begun to take shape.

Kluwe ponders future with Vikings

Chris Kluwe's days with the Vikings may be numbered after the team drafted Jeff Locke in the fifth round. Kluwe was once one of the NFL's best punters, but he was just average last year, and the Vikings may like the idea of getting a younger and cheaper punter to replace him. Kluwe, though, thinks another factor is at play -- his outspokenness on the subject of marriage equality.

Dolphins, Winston might come together on a deal soon

The Dolphins are desperate for a tackle to replace the departed Jake Long and while they seem to fancy Eric Winston, the team and player have struggled to agree to a deal. The two sides have been keeping in touch all offseason and it appears as if they will come to a resolution soon. That doesn't mean Winston will sign with the Dolphins, but if they don't, the two sides will move on and the saga will be over.

Jones wants Romo to spend more time working

Jerry Jones gave Tony Romo a fat new contract, but he still wants to see more from his quarterback. Specifically, he wants to see him at the practice facility and working more. The Cowboys owner told the press that he wants Romo to spend "Peyton Manning-type time on the job." If Romo complies, that might mean the end of Mexico trips and golf tournaments for the quarterback.

Bills sign undrafted free agent Rogers

Da'Rick Rogers has had his share of problems, but he's a big, physical and talented wide receiver and that should give the Bills depth after he was signed as an undrafted free agent. If all goes according to plan, Rogers will show he has matured and give Buffalo another talented wide receiver, joining Stevie Johnson and draftees Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin to form what could be a stout group of pass catchers.

Jaguars sign Scott and Rodgers

It's no secret that at the very least, the Jaguars would like to give Blaine Gabbert some competition and they are hoping Matt Scott or James Rodgers can do that. Jacksonville isn't completely sold on Gabbert and are apparently taking the "get every talented QB we can find and see if one pans out" approach. Considering the physical tools of Scott and Rodgers, that just might pay off.
