The New York Jets are now expected to keep embattled quarterback Mark Sanchez into the preseason, according to Bob Glauber of Newsday.
Jets to keep Mark Sanchez into preseason, according to report
Mark Sanchez’ time with the Jets may not be over yet.

Sanchez' days in New York appear to be numbered after the Jets selected Geno Smith in the second round of the NFL Draft, but they want to give him a fair chance to compete for the starting job. Sanchez was one of the worst QBs in the league last season, completing 54.3 percent of his passes for just 2,883 yards, 13 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.
Sanchez’ contract may be the only reason he’s still on the team. His $8.25 million salary is fully guaranteed, and the team will face nearly a $17 million cap hit by cutting him. There’s still a chance the Jets will use the post-June 1 designation and spread the cap hit out over two years. It appears to be a matter of when, not if, New York will sever ties.
