NFL free agent tracker: Bryant McKinnie will visit Dolphins

Miami wasn’t able to swing a trade for Branden Albert, but they could still have a new left tackle if they can sign former Hurricane Bryant McKinnie.

Stew Milne-USA TODAY Sports

Free agent offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie will visit with the Miami Dolphins on Monday, according to NFL.com's Jeff Darlington. The former Minnesota Viking and Baltimore Raven hit the free agent market after being released by the Ravens earlier this spring.

The Dolphins are still in the market for a tackle, and McKinnie would certainly satisfy that need. They lost left tackle Jake Long to the St. Louis Rams in free agency, and were not able to pull of a trade for Kansas City's Branden Albert. The Chiefs tried to move Albert in return for a 2013 second round pick, but are apparently open to trading for a similar pick in the 2014 draft.

If McKinnie does sign with the Dolphins, it would be something of a homecoming for him, as he played in college for the Miami Hurricanes. The San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints had previously expressed interest in McKinnie's services, but San Diego is probably no longer interested after taking Alabama tackle D.J. Fluker in the first round on Thursday.
