Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton says there "shouldn't be any excuses," for the offense heading into next season. In a quote on the team website, Dalton said that he expects the Bengals to take the next step, given some of the new additions this offseason.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton says the team’s offense has no excuses after adding more weapons in the 2013 NFL Draft.

“Well, there shouldn’t be any excuses. The players we already have and adding these guys is just going to make the offense better,” Dalton said after a Monday workout. “So I expect us to take the next step. I expect us to improve from where we were last year.”

The knocks against Dalton revolve primarily around his collapses in the playoffs. The Bengals have lost two-straight years to the Houston Texans, and the offense was primarily to blame in those situations. That is despite adding A.J. Green in 2011, along with Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones in 2012.
Now he has even more weapons to work with and potentially improve with, though. Tyler Eifert, arguably the best tight end of the 2013 NFL Draft, is on his way to pair up with Jermaine Gresham. On top of that, wide receiver Cobi Hamilton could be a solid weapon, and running back Giovani Bernard is set to be the team's feature back of the future.
So Dalton’s statements are correct: there aren’t any excuses at this point. The offense is stacked and has been put in a good position to succeed. The execution of that success, however, falls on the quarterback.
