Colt McCoy sidesteps chance to criticize Cleveland Browns

McCoy left Cleveland with class, moving onto the San Francisco 49ers as a backup.

Colt McCoy is now property of the San Francisco 49ers after being traded earlier this week from the Cleveland Browns for a pair of late-round draft picks.

During a conference call on Tuesday, McCoy had a chance to rip Cleveland for sitting him, and even worse, not giving him a chance to compete for a job, according to cleveland.com.

Instead, McCoy took the classy high road, per the article.

“There were some very positive, high moments there and there were also some low times. It was unfortunate kind of the way it all went down and ended, but I have no hard feelings toward those guys. I wish them nothing but the best.”

McCoy was originally a third-round selection of Cleveland back in 2010, making him the 429th quarterback to take snaps for the Browns since the departure of Bernie Kosar.

Like all the others post-Kosar, McCoy failed to inspire the Browns. Now, he leaves after one season of sitting behind Brandon Weeden, a 29-year-old rookie who also has done little to inspire anyone except the opposing defense.

McCoy will now be the backup on the defending NFC champions behind third-year pro Colin Kaepernick.
