2013 NFL Draft buzz: Jarvis Jones visits Bills, Eagles host Lane Johnson

The Bills brought in one of the top pass rushing prospects, as Jarvis Jones was in Buffalo this past Friday. They aren’t the only team keeping busy with visits, though. Let’s look at some of the headlines from the weekend.

With pro day workouts complete, NFL teams are entering the private workout stage of pre-draft schedules. After meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers early last week, linebacker Jarvis Jones headed to upstate New York for another meeting on Friday.

He wasn’t the only one on the move over the weekend, though. Here’s a look at the latest news surrounding the NFL Draft.

Jarvis Jones visits Bills

The Georgia linebacker received plenty of criticism after his pro day workout in Athens. His pre-draft numbers may not be blowing anyone away, but the tape from his play against SEC teams and college stats still have analysts ranking him as a potential top 10 pick. Buffalo may be looking for a quarterback at No. 8, though.

Lane Johnson to visit Eagles

Philadelphia may be shooting for a pass rusher at No. 4 overall, but Johnson may be the best available offensive tackle at that point. Luke Joeckel and Eric Fisher are expected to go off the board within the first few picks. The Eagles could be looking to trade with a team with a glaring need at tackle. San Diego might not be able to wait around until pick No. 11 to fill that void.

Mike Mayock puts Eric Fisher above Luke Joeckel

Widely considered the top prospect in the draft, Joeckel is now taking a back seat to Fisher in Mayock's rankings. Fisher climbed draft boards this offseason and is now considered one of the top five players in the 2013 class. Most mock drafts have the Chiefs taking Joeckel. Could Fisher throw that prediction off? Probably not, but it's worth noting how highly Mayock thinks of him.

D.J. Swearinger making his rounds

The South Carolina safety visited with the Jaguars and Falcons, and he is set to meet with the Jets as well, according to Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net. Matthew Fairburn of Mocking the Draft thinks Swearinger has the upside to be taken in Round 1. The safety class is deep this year, but he might be turn some heads as a first-round pick.

Dolphins taking a tackle in Round 1?

Miami needs to fill the void at tackle with Jake Long gone. NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus says the Dolphins are expected to address the position in the first round, according to Ben Volin of The Palm Beach Post. With the No. 12 overall pick, they would have to pray Lane Johnson somehow falls that far. Joeckel, Fisher, and Johnson could all go in the top 10.
