Darrelle Revis trade: Are the Buccaneers willing to part with 1st-round pick?

The Buccaneers attempt to trade for Darrelle Revis apparently hinges on their willingness to part with their 2013 first round pick. Will they do it?

Jared Wickerham

The Buccaneers continue to pursue a trade for Darrelle Revis, but if the Jets' cornerback is going to end up in Tampa Bay, the Bucs are going to have to part with their 2013 first-round pick, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

Tampa Bay is reportedly willing to include its 2014 first-round pick as part of the compensation package, but according to Stroud's report, the Jets are insisting the Bucs include the No. 13 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. There are conflicting reports as to whether Tampa Bay general manager Mark Dominik is willing to include the team's 2013 pick for Revis.

According to Stroud, Dominik is still deciding if he will include the No. 13 pick in the package. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, however, reports the Bucs are willing to include the 13th overall pick, but the Jets still want more. To add to the speculation, Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reported Tampa Bay is willing to include a first-, third- and sixth-round picks in a package for Revis. It’s unknown if the Bucs’ 2013 first-round pick was part of that reported package.

Regardless of what happens, a resolution should happen sooner rather than later. Tampa Bay wants to have the deal done before the NFL Draft, so it has time conduct a physical on Revis before finalizing the deal.
