Bryant McKinnie takes physical with Chargers

The Ravens were grateful to have Bryant McKinnie during their Super Bowl run, but the free-agent tackle is currently visiting other teams in hopes of finding a starting and secure position. Those visits continued this week with McKinnie visiting the San Diego Chargers, a team that just drafted tackle D.J. Fluker with the 11th overall pick last Thursday, but is still in need of additional help along the offensive line.

"It's cool," McKinnie said of his visit with the Chargers via text message. McKinnie had previously visited with the Miami Dolphins prior to his two-day meeting with San Diego, and the 33-year-old faces significant free-agent competition at a position that is vastly deep with players like former Kansas City Chiefs tackle Eric Winston still on the market.

McKinnie was the seventh overall pick in the 2002 draft by the Minnesota Vikings, where he started at left tackle for nine seasons before spending the last two with the Ravens. He perhaps has never lived up to the hype as an elite, franchise left tackle, but was reliable enough until losing his job to Michael Oher last season. However when called upon in the playoffs, McKinnie was stout against some stiff competition and was able to hit the market on a high note.

Unfortunately he's finding out that the market for tackles has been pretty stacked. Will the Chargers be his final destination?
