Raiders CEO Amy Trask resigns

Trask began her career with the Raiders in 1987 and was named CEO in 1997. She was reportedly close to late owner Al Davis, with the USA Today calling Trask one of Davis’ most trusted advisers. Trask announced her resignation in an email released to the media.

“Earlier today, I informed Mark Davis of my decision to leave the Raiders,” she said in an email statement. “Having honored a commitment that I made to effectuate a smooth transition and transfer of control, I no longer wish to remain with the organization. For over a quarter of a century, it was my honor and my privilege to work for the Raiders. I will forever appreciate the opportunity afforded me by Al Davis.”

The resignation didn’t come as a surprise to some. According to Jim Trotter of Sports Illustrated, Mark Davis told Trask she would have a “subordinate” role under his ownership. Trask, who worked heavily on Oakland’s current stadium situation, was one of two high-level female executives of an NFL team who weren’t related to the ownership group, according to Pro Football Talk.

Trask was the first female CEO in NFL history.
