The Denver Broncos have hired Alex Gibbs as an offensive consultant, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post. A familiar face for the franchise, he's expected to help out offensive line coach Dave Magazu going into the 2013 season.
Broncos hire Alex Gibbs as offensive consultant
The Denver Broncos are reuniting with former offensive line coach Alex Gibbs, hiring the zone-blocking guru as an offensive consultant.

Gibbs, who coached for the Broncos from 1995-2003, is best known for his zone blocking, one-cut scheme that yielded one of the best rushing attacks in the league. During his tenure, the Broncos produced a 1,000-yard rusher in every season except 2001.
Now 72 years old, Gibbs retired back in 2010. The Seattle Seahawks hired him as offensive line coach that year, but stepped down a week before the regular season without coaching a single game.
The Broncos ran a power-blocking scheme under former coach Josh McDaniels, but they appear to be going back to the one-cut attack that made Gibbs famous with John Fox running the show. This offseason, team also hired zone-blocking scheme disciple Greg Knapp as quarterbacks coach and drafted Montee Ball, who thrived under a similar system at Wisconsin.
