NFL news roundup: Gronk to have fourth surgery, Vick learns how to hold a ball, and more

Some NFL news happened on Sunday! Sort of! Here’s the latest headlines making the rounds.

Jared Wickerham

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is set to undergo a fourth surgery on his arm Monday. Doctors will replace the plate in his arm and attempt to clean out the infection that's been bothering him for months. The team is hoping that he will be ready for the regular season after this latest procedure.

Did you know that Michael Vick never learned how to hold a football? Well he does now, thanks to new Eagles coach Chip Kelly. That's right, apparently Vick was never taught ball security, one of the most fundamental lessons in all of football, in his 12-year professional career. Your daily reminder that people are paid millions to do this. At any rate, this should help his turnover issues.

Do the Buccaneers have a QB controversy on their hands? Maybe, maybe not. It's only May, but that's not stopping coach Greg Schiano from saying things. Schiano isn't ruling out the possibility of starting Mike Glennon in his rookie year, suggesting he could play over Josh Freeman, but at the same time he affirmed that Freeman is the guy for now. This is what the offseason does to football fans.

It’s possible that Schiano is just lighting a fire under the inconsistent Freeman, but Freeman is also entering a contract year and the new front office has been tepid at best in its support of him. Here’s another training camp storyline to keep filed away.
