The Patriots will keep their fingers crossed as Rob Gronkowski goes under the knife again. Mike Glennon isn’t being ruled out as a starter in Tampa. What else is going on around the league?

Cultures will be taken from Gronk's forearm to determine if an infection is still lingering, according to the Boston Herald. If the infection is still present, the process starts over, and the possibility of missing regular season action becomes an issue. The Patriots can only hope the news comes backs positive.

Head coach Greg Schiano said Tampa Bay isn't looking for a new starter, but Glennon will be in the competition. He isn't ruling anything out this early in the year. Josh Freeman hasn't been able to provide consistency under center for the Buccaneers, so if Glennon has a strong showing in camp, Schiano could change his mind regarding the depth chart.

In part it’s simply reaffirming what we already knew: that the Buccaneers aren’t completely sold on Freeman, which is perfectly reasonable given his inconsistent play so far ... Whether that faltering comes during the season or in the preseason, we may see Glennon show up as a starter. Of course, if Freeman doesn’t falter we may not see Glennon at all.
The Vikings need to fill the void left by Antoine Winfield's departure. Cook has struggled to stay healthy over his first three seasons in the league, but he's ready for the challenge of shadowing opposing team's top receivers. He's a talented corner who will need to step up for the young secondary in Minnesota. Christopher Gates of Daily Norseman says Cook has to show he can stay on the field.
Overall, in his career, he has played in just 23 of 49 possible games. He’s shown promise when he has played, but he needs to stay healthy for the secondary to reach the level he’s talking about this coming season.
Vick said new head coach Chip Kelly showed him how to properly grip a football in practice. After ten years in the NFL, fundamentals are still in the works for the Eagles quarterback. Mike Kaye of Bleeding Green Nation thinks this shows Kelly's coaching expertise.
Also, it may speak to how great of a teacher that Kelly really is and Vick is simply understating the significance of the coaching moment. Vick also said that he plans to work on the the technique, which confirms the notion that he really is doing all he can to improve and impress the coaching staff.
Smith is the "preferred candidate" to be under center when the regular season begins, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York. If the rookie can gain a firm grasp on the Jets' offense, he should be starting over Mark Sanchez. Either way, Cimini seems to think the team will struggle. There isn't enough talent on offense for the Jets to thrive.
