Reshad Jones missing from Dolphins offseason conditioning

The Miami safety was unexpectedly absent from the Dolphins offseason conditioning on Monday.

Joel Auerbach

Dolphins safety Reshad Jones was a no-show to Miami's offseason conditioning session on Monday, according to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero. Jones had attended nearly every other optional offseason workout and the Dolphins spent a portion of the morning trying to locate him. Miami's OTAs begin on Tuesday, May 21, it is unknown if Jones will attend.

The reason for Jones' absence is not known to the Dolphins, but there is speculation that Jones is unhappy with how his contract talks are progressing. Jones is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is due to make $1.323 million, which would make him one of the lowest paid starters on the team. Jones was the third best safety in the league in 2012, according to ProFootballFocus, leading the team with four interceptions.

If Jones is missing from OTAs on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, that should be a better indication that he is unhappy with contract negotiations.
