This from a Jets player, who asked not to be identified: “Everyone on the team likes Mark personally but there’s a general feeling among some of the players that maybe it’s time to give someone else a chance.” The player went on to say that he estimates that 80-90 percent of the team feels the same way he does.
This isn't the first time that an anonymous player in the Jets organization has criticized a quarterback, as the same thing happened to Tim Tebow in 2012.
Vikings pass rusher Jared Allen is entering a contract year and seems completely uninterested in taking a pay cut. When asked if he has been approached about restructuring his contract, Allen had the following to say:
“You use the word restructure and that to me makes it feel like they’d want me to take a pay cut. And if anybody asked me to take a pay cut, I’d be through the first door out of there. So no. We haven’t talked one iota. It is what it is. And we’re going to go about our business and play good ball and try to win a Super Bowl. And like I said the business stuff? We take care of that in the offseason. I have people to do that. That’s why I don’t get into it. You’re not going to hear it from me. I won’t complain. I go about my business.”

The Arizona Cardinals announced on Thursday that they signed third-round pick Tyrann Mathieu. Mathieu was one of the most talked-about players coming into the 2013 draft after he was dismissed from LSU’s football team for several failed drug tests and arrests. Mathieu was considered a first-round talent and, depending on whether or not he stays out of trouble, he could be the steal of the 2013 draft.
In total, his contract is reportedly worth $3.052 million over the four years. Last year's 69th pick (Bills WR T.J. Graham) signed a deal with $2.9 million over four seasons.
It sounds like both parties came to the table willing to work with one another. Mathieu gets a good chunk of money up front and the team is protected if he goes back to having problems he had while in college.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, considered by many to be the best passer in the league, believes his team should retire No. 4, Brett Favre's old number, before he's inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
“It’s been too long,” Rodgers said. “You know, our country and the state of Wisconsin, these people are a people of second and third and fourth chances. I think it’s time to let the healing process begin for those who are still upset for what went down.”
Sean Payton, not Bill Belichick, is now the NFL’s highest-payed coach, and he’s now the highest-payed head coach in the United States, according to Forbes. He’s expected to receive $8 million per year over the next five years, beating Belichick by half a million dollars.
Eagles tight end James Casey reportedly underwent arthroscopic knee surgery to remove loose cartilage. The Eagles signed Casey to a three-year, $14.5 million contract this offseason because new head coach Chip Kelly believes he has the right skill set to be a productive tight end in his offense. The Eagles still have a group of talented tight ends that includes Brent Celek and rookie Zach Ertz.
