Houston Texans running back Arian Foster was carted off the practice field Tuesday with a calf injury, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.
Arian Foster injury: Texans RB carted off practice field with strained calf
Arian Foster was carted off the field with a strained calf.

Details of the injury are not known at the moment, but McClain notes that he had ice wrapped around his calf. Coach Gary Kubiak later said that Foster suffered a strained calf muscle. Kubiak doesn’t believe it’s a serious injury, and teammate Andre Johnson seems to agree:
Andre Johnson said he's been around long enough to know when injuries are serious. Doesn't think Arian Foster's is #Texans

Foster has been a workhorse for the Texans, racking up 956 carries over the past three years. He rushed for 1,424 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2012, but only managed 4.1 yards per carry, a career low. He’s also had a long history of nagging injuries. Despite not missing any games in 2012, he was bothered by a knee issue that kept him on the injury report for most of the season, and he left one game with an irregular heartbeat. He’s had knee and hamstring problems going back to college, but it hasn’t slowed down his production.
With so much tread on his tires, the Texans may opt to take it easy on him for the rest of spring workouts. For now, this at least opens up more practice reps for Ben Tate and Cierre Wood.
